The Premier League match between Manchester United and Liverpool slated to hold at Old Trafford on Sunday has been indefinitely postponed.
The match was reportedly delayed for several minutes due to protest and postponement became inevitable as hundreds of home fans marched into the Stadium in campaign to oust the Glazers family.
Initially, the game had been scheduled for a 4:30 (WAT) kickoff, but has now been postponed indefinitely with no update yet as to when it would be played.
After refusing co-owner Joel Glazer’s apologies for the club’s failed attempt to enter the Super League plans, fans have since pushed for a change at the helm.
Earlier this week, a group of United supporters stormed into the club’s Carrington training ground, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and midfielder Nemanja Matic both responding to the demonstrators.
There were also protests last week outside Old Trafford before Manchester United played Leeds United, but Sunday marked the first time fans gained illegal access to the stadium and paraded on the field.
With the 2020/2021 EPL season last matches scheduled to be played on May 23rd, the league managers are in a race against time to announce a new date for the aborted match.
