Mauritania has officially nominated Sidi Ould Tah as a candidate for the presidency of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group.
The nomination was formally submitted in Abidjan by Mauritania’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Sid’Ahmed Ould Bouh. The election is set to take place in May 2025.
According to the Mauritanian Ministry of Economy and Finance, the nomination underscores the country’s commitment to strengthening its role in international financial institutions and promoting Mauritanian experts for key decision-making positions.
To secure support for Ould Tah’s candidacy, Mauritania has launched a diplomatic campaign, engaging both African and non-African member states of the AfDB Group.
The AfDB presidential election will take place during the bank’s Annual Meeting and Board of Governors’ session, scheduled for 27–29 May 2025.
