Workers’ stadium in Beijing China was the synosure of many fans on a day Lionel Messi scored his fastest international career goal as Argentina beat Australia 2-0.
Messi who recently ended his contract with PSG netted at exactly one minute and 19 seconds after he won the ball in Australia’s half.
It was his compatriot Enzo Fernandez who found him before he beat two defenders and goalkeeper with a curling shot from outside the box.
The goal moved roaring fans to ear-thingling cheering.
The goal was first for Inter Miami bound Messi who scored for Argentina’s third fixture since lifting the World Cup in December 2022.
He has now scored in seven straight games for Argentina and the country’s talisman has shown no signs of slowing down ahead of his 36th birthday next week.
Argentina doubled their lead in the 68th minute, when Rodrigo De Paul floated in an enticing cross into the box and substitute German Pezzella found space between two defenders to fire home a free header.
