Twitter, now rebranded as X, is rolling out a new opportunity for its users in Nigeria and various African nations to boost their earnings.
The popular microblogging platform has initiated a program that allows users to earn money through ad revenue sharing.
This development came to light on Tuesday when verified Twitter users expressed their gratitude by sharing their payment receipts on the platform.
While the initial rollout of these payouts commenced in July 2023 within the United States, the company’s leadership has disclosed its intention to extend this payment system to users across the globe by the close of July 2023.
In Nigeria and other nations, verified users who have reached the impression threshold for their content are now reaping the benefits of this ad revenue-sharing program.
The payout mechanism signifies a shift in dynamics, as individuals who previously chose not to invest in the subscription for the coveted blue badge can now find an added motivation to subscribe.
The subscription comes at a cost of N3,560 per month.
Recalling an earlier announcement made by Elon Musk, it was revealed that all verified accounts would be required to contribute a monthly fee of N3,560.
Naturally, this proclamation sparked a wave of controversies and discussions.
It’s important to note that this particular decision will exclusively favour verified accounts that adhere to the monthly remittance to the microblogging platform.
