Morocco’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Moha Tagma, has called for a closer partnership between Rabat and Abuja, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties.
During a visit to Nyesom Wike, Minister of Nigeria’s capital city on Thursday, Tagma emphasized the strong bond between the two nations and expressed a desire to expand collaboration at both the federal and territorial levels.
“As you know, for many years now, our relationship is very, very excellent, and we want to develop this relationship not only at the level of the federal government but also with your territory,” Tagma said in Abuja.
He further shared the sentiment of Moroccan citizens living in Abuja, stating, “The citizens of Morocco living in Abuja have considered themselves citizens of Abuja, describing it as very beautiful and one of the best capital cities in Africa”.
Tagma extended a formal invitation to Minister Wike to visit Morocco, adding, “I want to invite you officially to Morocco. I will transmit to you the official invitation and I hope that you can pay this visit to Morocco as soon as possible. We will be very happy to receive you in Morocco, to meet your counterpart in our capital city and many members of the government of Morocco”.
The ambassador also informed Wike about Morocco’s plans to build an embassy in Abuja. “We have now signed a contract with the company that will construct the building, and we are waiting for the facilities that the FCT will provide for us in the area allocated to us for the project”.
In response, Minister Wike accepted the invitation, expressing his eagerness to explore potential partnerships. “I am happy to accept the invitation to visit Rabat and see what we can do to partner between the two cities,” Wike noted.
The bilateral relations between Nigeria and Morocco have grown significantly over the decades, driven by shared interests in economic cooperation, regional stability, and Pan-African development.
