Jose Mourinho has told Harry Kane that he should be contented with his current prospects at Tottenham despite the uncertainty that surrounds his Spur’s future.
Kane has been linked with a move away from north London this summer as Mourinho’s side struggle to compete for League and European titles.
The 27-year-old admitted over the international break that he will decide his future in the coming months.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese coach believes he should be satisfied with how his career is playing out, with the Carabao Cup final and Euros on the horizon.
“I think he’s living a good period – he’s doing well for club and country and ahead of him until the end of the season he has nice challenges: the final to play, the Premier League to fight for every point, then a Euros with the possibility to play a final at Wembley. I think he has to be happy with the moment he’s living,” Mourinho said.
“I have to focus on what he is for us, of course I’m always pleased when my players go to their national teams and do well. So, I’m happy he did well with England, I’m happy that England win obviously but I cannot play that game of what (outside) people say, what people don’t say.
“I focus on what he did for us in the last match against Aston Villa, I focus on the effort I saw him putting on the pitch for England against Albania and Poland and I focus on the match against Newcastle, where I’m pretty sure him playing very well, well, or not so well, scoring two (goals), one or no, he will be there for the team.’
Ahead of Sunday’s Premier League trip to Newcastle, Spurs sit three points outside the top four and a win may take them above London rivals Chelsea, on goal difference.
