The ongoing Women’s Afrobasket tournament has produced quarter-final pairings with Mozambique basketball team set to battle defending Champions Nigeria later on Wednesday.
Mozambique beat Coted’Ivoire to secure a last eight ticket on Tuesday at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.
After failing to qualify for the quarter-final through the group stages, both teams engaged in a playoff in order to secure qualification.
The Mozambican ladies dominated from the start of the game with little resistance from the Ivorians to earn a deserving 21-7 win in the 1st quarter.
Mozambique extended their lead by 11 points at the end of the second quarter, winning 37-26.
The South African nation continued their dominance in the 3rd quarter with a 50-36 score, before wrapping up the encounter by 70-48 final score after the final quarter.
Other Fixtures
Senegal defeated Egypt, and will now play Cameroon in the quarter-final, while Mali takes on Guinea who eliminated Angola.
Host Rwanda will battle Uganda in the other game.
Nigeria, Cameroon, Mali and Rwanda had gained automatic qualification to the next phase of the competition after emerging tops at the group stage.
