Former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has admitted that he shed tears over the way he was treated by the Catalan club before his exit.
The Uruguay star who was considered as a surplus to requirements at Camp Nou said Barcelona blocked him from training with the club’s first team, a development which made him shed tears.
“Those days were very difficult. I cried because of what I was having to go through,” Suarez told the BBC.
“I was hurt most of all by the way they did things because one has to accept it when a cycle comes to an end.”
Until his unceremonious departure to Atletico Madrid for a paltry sum of €6million, Suarez was Barcelona’s third-highest goalscorer having found the back of the net 198 times 283 appearances.
He has helped the club win four La Liga titles, four domestic cups and the 2015 Champions League in the process.
