Former FIFA President, Sepp Blatter has claimed that his desire to improve the standard of African football and envy on the path of ‘anti-Africans’ was the reason he got impeached in 2015.
During Blatter’s 17-year-tenure and between 2009 and 2010, Africa hosted all the FIFA World Cups. Nigeria hosted the U17 World Cup, Egypt the U20 the biggest of them all, the senior World Cup was hosted by South Africa.
The 84-year-old admitted that the scenario created enemity for him, but he remains proud to have issued them with the hosting right anyways.
Blatter, who was declared stable last month after he got admitted to the hospital over a recurring health issue, claimed his dismissal from office was a product ‘black mail’.
In 2015, Sepp Blatter along with former Uefa President Michel Platini came under a criminal investigation over an alleged undue payment to the latter, and was consequently issued an initial eight-year ban from football by Fifa’s ethics committee in relation to that payment which was reduced to six years on appeal.
“I am proud of this mistake, it made me to be hated by anti-Africans, they started to investigate us, they brought up propaganda information that black mailed us, Blatter said.
“Things just escalated when I launched a one goal organization to build African infrastructure, that upsets the western world and this is the only mistake I will always be proud of, he said.
He further stated that “Africa lives humans and they have produced phenomenal footballers, and if our Organization was that corrupt why until today Africa has not been funded with money to improve their infrastructure, because one goal was operation wrap speed, we were starting to buy better pitches and we were stopped”
Last month, the swiss-man was issued with complaint of “criminal mismanagement” sent to the Zurich prosecutor, related to the involvement of Blatter and other former officials at the world governing body in the Fifa museum project in the Swiss city.
Meanwhile, Blatter has denied all accusations leveled against him.
“The accusations are baseless and are vehemently repudiated,” his lawyer Lorenz Erni said.
