A ransom of N50 million for five persons abducted in the Lavun local government area of Niger state, Nigeria has been demanded by the abductors.
According to sources, gunmen described as bandits had earlier invaded the Batai community of Lavun Local Government on Friday around 8pm.
The bandits numbering up to 10 stormed the community and kidnapped their victims while injuring several others.
The abductors who threatened to withhold their abductee’s until the ransom was paid further attacked shops by the major Bida-Mokwa road, highway carting away valuables including laptops and handsets injuring staff in some of the shops that opened.
An emergency meeting of districts and village heads was called over the incident by Etsu Nupe and Chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar.
As at the time of filling in the report, the outcome of the meeting was yet to be known.
