Namibia is gearing up to host the 7th Namibia International Energy Conference (NIEC) in Windhoek from April 23 to 25, 2025, marking a significant event in the country’s journey towards becoming a leading energy hub in Africa.
Organized by RichAfrica Consultancy, the event will bring together global and local energy leaders, investors, service providers, and financial institutions to explore Namibia’s expanding energy sector and investment opportunities.
The theme of the 2025 conference, “Leading The Way: Becoming An Energy Hub with In-Country Value,” emphasizes the country’s strategic vision to harness its vast oil, gas, and renewable resources while creating a favorable environment for foreign investments.
CEO of RichAfrica Consultancy and the Convener of NIEC 2025, Selma Shimutwikeni said the conference will harness the transition from “reimagining resource-rich Namibia to leading the way with impactful action.”
In a statement, Shimutwikeni expressed optimism about the conference’s potential to drive real outcomes, saying, “NIEC 2025 aims to be a catalyst for turning conversations into actionable outcomes that will drive investments, advance exploration, and strengthen partnerships.”
The event will focus on unlocking opportunities for investments in infrastructure development, capacity building, financing access, and regulatory enhancements. Special attention will be given to ensuring that local industries and communities benefit from the country’s energy resources, especially from recent world-class hydrocarbon discoveries in the Orange Basin.
Key topics on the agenda include discussions on Namibia’s latest offshore discoveries, energy security, power industry growth, and green hydrogen initiatives. Additionally, the conference will explore the interconnectedness of Namibia’s energy sector with its critical metals industry, highlighting the country’s role in driving broader economic and industrial development.
An interactive exhibition is also planned, allowing companies to showcase innovative technologies that are shaping the future of Namibia’s energy landscape. The exhibition will emphasize sustainable solutions, power access, and environmental stewardship.
A significant highlight of NIEC 2025 is the Future Energy Leaders Initiative, designed to engage young professionals in Namibia’s energy industry through mentorship and skill development opportunities.
With Namibia making strides towards becoming a key energy player, the upcoming conference aims to solidify its position as a strategic hub for energy investments and partnerships in Africa.
