Victor Osimhen’s move from Lille to Napoli is under investigation, with the offices of both clubs raided in Naples, Roma and France, according to Sky Sport Italia.
It was in the news on Tuesday that the selling club Lille, and buying club Napoli were investigated for possible fraud over the deal that took Victor Osimhen from France to Italy.
The matter being investigated according to L’Equipe is the transfer fee of €81m that Napoli reportedly paid Lille to sign Victor Osimhen.
L’Equipe are reporting that Lille only got €36m and not €81m as widely reported.
The deal stood out as it involved four players valued at just over 20 million euros moving to Lille as part of the deal.
The said four players are goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis and three youth team players Luigi Liguori, Claudio Manzi, and Ciro Palmieri.
The value of the youth team players immediately raised eyebrows, because they were given vastly inflated prices on the transfer market.
This caused even more controversy when the three players never actually wore the Lille jersey, as they were immediately loaned out to Serie C sides and their contracts were simply terminated a year later free of charge.
The players went to the media complaining the deal had ruined their careers and they were used as pawns in a larger transaction used to bolster the finances of both Napoli and Lille.
