Napoli have officially parted company with social media executive Alessio Fortino, following the backlash of the Victor Osimhen-themed TikTok video recently posted on the club’s social media page.
He worked with the club for two and half years.
According to reports, he personally wasn’t the one that produced the Tiktoks video, but the person who did has reportedly reached out to Osimhen to apologise.
Controversy Still Persists
It is not yet clear whether Fortino was sacked, whether he resigned, or left by mutual consent, but it can be assumed that his departure is in direct reference to the storm involving Osimhen.
The storm erupted after Osimhen missed a penalty that would have given Napoli a 1-0 win over Bologna last weekend.
Osimhen’s Fresh Reaction
Meanwhile, Osimhen has reaffirmed his loyalty to the club days after he became the subject of a controversial Tiktok video posted on the club’s page.
While Napoli had issued a statement describing the post as unintentional, many of the striker’s fans were left unsatisfied.
However, the Nigerian has now poured some cold water on the heat by reinstating his commitment to the Serie A champions.
Speaking via his Instagram on Sunday, the Nigerian international said, “Coming to the City of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me. The People of Napoli have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us.”
Osimhen also debunked certain accusations against the club’s supporters describing them as untrue while also appreciating the support he has received especially from Nigerians on the matter.
The 24-year old scored his fifth Serie A goal in Napoli’s 4-0 win away at Lecce on Saturday.
