The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has trained 70 teachers from the nine Niger Delta States, including Lagos and Oyo, on electronic learning and STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education in Nigerian secondary schools.
The capacity building K-yan Device training which was facilitated by the NCDMB in collaboration with Q-Oil & Gas Ltd, was a five-day workshop.
Speaking at the end of the programme, GM Capacity Building Division of the NCDMB, Dr Ama Ikuru in his opening remarks, said Human Capacity Development remains a core mandate of the NCDMB, noting that over 10,000 Nigerians have been trained since its inception in 2010.
While noting that the training will aid revitalizing the study of STEM in secondary schools by implementing innovative learning technologies for enhanced learning, he added that: “this training is consistent with the objectives & aspirations of the NOGIC Act 2010”.
The K-Yan Device is a digital classroom solution, designed and developed to promote Interactive and ICT driven learning and STEM education in schools. The devices were distributed to participants at the end of the training.
Meanwhile, the NCDMB is set to host a Science Technology Innovation Challenge (STIC) Regional Competition from May 4 to 11 across three regions. According to the board, the top two innovations from each region will advance to the boot camp and final round of the competition.
