MicCom Cables and Wires’ Chief Operating Officer, Bukola Adubi, has expressed gratitude for the invaluable support her company has received from the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
Speaking in an interview with Local Content Television, an NCDMB’s media outfit, Adubi attributed MicCom’s ongoing drive for upgrades and increased investments to the NCDMB’s diligent implementation of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act.

The NOGICD Act, which came into effect in 2010, primarily aims to bolster local capacities within the oil and gas industry.
Adubi lauded the NCDMB’s effective execution of the Act, emphasizing that it has opened up significant opportunities for local companies like MicCom to actively participate in the sector.
According to her, the NOGICD Act serves as a protective shield for local manufacturers like MicCom, ensuring their inclusion in oil and gas projects, provided they meet the necessary qualifications.
Adubi stated, “The NOGICD Act has opened tremendous doors. We wouldn’t have been part of these oil and gas projects. But it has ensured that local manufacturers like us are protected. We’re protected as long as we’re qualified to do the job.”
She further highlighted the positive feedback received from clients and praised the NCDMB’s commitment to making the Act practical.
The Act’s implementation, she noted, has empowered companies like MicCom, prompting them to contemplate upgrades and increased investments. These investments, in turn, lead to greater employment opportunities and increased government revenue through taxes.
Reflecting on MicCom’s contributions to various projects, Adubi noted that the company had historically played a significant role as the primary supplier to the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) and continued to do so with the PHCN Discos.
She added that MicCom had actively participated in the construction of several power distribution stations nationwide.
Adubi reminisced about MicCom’s involvement in the initial electrification of Lagos State’s international airport, which marked the company’s inception in the sector.
Presently, MicCom is engaged in numerous projects, including regional offices for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), state governments, parastatals, and electricity boards.
Notably, MicCom has recently completed community electrification for Shell as part of the Assa-North project, contributed to the ongoing rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery, and is actively participating in the NLNG Train 7 project.
To accommodate their expanding portfolio, Adubi emphasized MicCom’s commitment to staff capacity development, ensuring that employees remain well-versed in industry changes and advancements.
