In a bid to learn contemporary ideas and orientations in disability inclusive development as an approach for the implementation of the Discrimination Against persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, NCPWD’s 5 year Strategic Plan, the CRPD, SDGs and what’s more, the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, 14th February, 2023 retires to Akwanga, Nasarawa State for a training Workshop.
In a statement by, Head Press and Public Relations Unit, NCPWD, Mbanefo JohnMichaels I noted that the Workshop which is primarily targeted on basic skills in development Program and partnership Management for the designated Management and staff of the Commission is also aimed at keeping the participants abreast with learning the requisite technical skills for the management of development Programs and partnerships.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Mr James David Lalu who was represented by the Director legal services NCPWD, Barrister Joseph Okon disclosed that the Workshop is one of the series of the technical interventions that is being provided for the Commission by Sightsavers with a view to strengthen its institutional and technical capacities.
The ES further gave the assurance and hope that at the end of the Workshop the capacity of all the participants would have been built on various thematic areas of the training and the main objective would similarly been achieved.
“I would like to implore all participants to make good use of this period to unlearn in order to learn, relax and participate actively” he said.
In his remarks, the representative of Sightsavers Nigeria, Mr Rasaq Adekoya who took the first discourse of the day, tagged, “From design to Evaluation: basic procedures in disability inclusive program/project Development and Management, insisted that in order to attract the right results, experts must be engaged at all times by the Commission.
However, the Head DPPU NCPWD, Mrs Olanike Akinbola on behalf of the participants expressed her gratitude to the ES for providing such a platform for the staff of the Commission; she further thanked Sightsavers for their timely support as always.
