Chelsea suffered a second straight defeat in the Premier League on Tuesday night after Wolverhampton Wanderers came from a goal down at half-time to beat the Blues 2 – 1.
It looked like Frank Lampard’s men had dust off the loss they were handed a fortnight ago by Everton to go top of the table after Giroud fired home a well timed cross from Ben Chiwell to set the tone for Chelsea.
However, the host replied 14 minutes later when Daniel Podence took on two of the Blues defenders before putting the ball past Edouard Mendy to draw level.
Wolves could have made it two just before regulation time when referee Stuart Atwell signaled a Penalty for the host but a VAR check revealed that Pedro Neto self-stumbled in the box.
Chelsea mounted serious pressure to steal the win as the game edged closer to full-time but a fine counter attacking play rubbed off on Lampard’s men after Neto fired Wolves to the lead at added time.
The result meant Chelsea still maintains their fifth position on the log, three points adrift league leaders Tottenham who are set for a showdown at Anfield against second placed Liverpool on Wednesday.
