The Nigeria Football Federation NFF has settled the unpaid bonus of Nigeria’s squad that won bronze at the African Cup of Nations tournament held in Egypt 2 years ago.
After defeating the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia by a lone goal to clinch the third place prize, the NFF became stuck on paying the player’s allowances. However, the Amaju Pinnick led administration had promised to fulfil their financial obligation after all.
Confirming the development, BBC’s Oluwashina Okeleji disclosed via his official twitter handle that the NFF has finally paid the players that went to 2019 Afcon their bonus, although it’s not clear if Rohr and Agu have also received their salaries.
The announcement will boost the player’s morale, most especially ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group C to face Cape Verde, Central Africa Republic and Liberia for the 2022 World Cup qualifying stage.
The Three-time AFCON champions recently qualified for the 2022 AFCON tournament in Cameroon after they emerged top of Group L unbeaten in a group that consists of Benin, Sierra Leone, and Lesotho.
