As the race for 2023 presidency takes its full swing, activist and Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Comrade Deji Adeyanju has advised the former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and former PDP vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi to work together in order to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Describing the two parties as ‘twin monsters’, Adeyanju a former chieftain of the PDP said defeating both parties is not easy.
In a tweet on Thursday, he emphasised that even though he places no premium on who becomes the presidential candidate or the vice, he made a case for Obi, a former governor of Anambra to become the presidential candidate.
“I want the Kwankaso/Obi ticket to be considered. It doesn’t really matter who runs for president or vice but I will prefer Obi as president and Dan Musa as VP but they should both meet and strategize. To defeat the twin monster of APC/PDP is not easy,” Adeyanju said.
Recall that Kwankwaso had few months ago dumped the PDP and pitch his political tent with New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP while Peter Obi in less than a week to the PDP presidential primary election that produced formed Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the winner dumped the party and joined Labour Party.
He has since emerged the presidential candidate of the party while the coast is also clear for Kwankwaso to clinch the presidential ticket of his NNPP.
Adeyanju believes only collaborative power of the duo can dislodge the PDP and APC which Nigerians see as the ‘big political parties’.
In a recent interview, Kwankwaso said he would have made the former Anambra governor his running mate if he had joined his NNPP.
“Many people just suggested that. I believe that it could have been possible if not because he joined another party. Now, he is already a candidate as we have seen from the news now. We look forward to seeing what happens in the next few weeks,” Kwankwaso said.
