Barely one week to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa, another Super Eagles star Nathan Tella has pulled out.
This was disclosed via the official X handle of Super Eagles on Thursday.
The information reads, “WCQ Camp Update: Nathan Tella of Bayer Leverkusen has excused himself from the upcoming WCQ matches due to family reasons. Coach Finidi George has now called up Ibrahim Olawoyin of Caykur Rizespor of Turkey.”

Rangers defender, Kenneth Igboke was also called as replacement for injured Victor Osimhen earlier this week.
Nigeria’s senior national team now led by Ex-International Finidi George are scheduled to kick-off camping this weekend in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
They will later engage South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and the Squirel of Benin Republic in few days time.
Nigeria are currently third in the qualifier with two points after two matches.
