Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani has stepped down as the Adamawa State Coordinator of Bola Tinubu Campaign Council.
Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State is the presidential candidate of APC in next year’s general election.
Sen. Binani in a statement she personally endorsed, said she took the decision to step aside pending the outcome of an appeal case against the annulment of her election as the governorship candidate of the party.
A Federal High Court had nullified the governorship primary in the state won by Binani.
“Senator Aishatu Binani steps aside as Adamawa State Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Coordinator pending the outcome of Appeal Court case filed. The PCC is urged to appoint an interim coordinator in the meantime,” the statement read.
The state leadership of APC under Samaila Tadawus had accused Binani of sidelining the party by singlehandedly appointing members of the campaign team in the state without due consultation.
She formally quit the position on Thursday, after she was said to have been angered by remarks made by a party member against some senior stakeholders including former Governor Murtala Nyako.
