When the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games Curling event gets underway on January 19 in Gangwon Korea, Nigeria will be the only African nation to feature.
According to the organisers via its official website, other countries from other regions of the world including Korea, Brazil, United States, China, Japan, Canada, Qatar and Kazakhstan will also participate.
Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, Ukraine and New Zealand are also scheduled to take part.
Already, the qualification for the prestigious curling competition has been finalised, according to a press statement.
The statement revealed that the participating countries would feature in both the Mixed Team Championship and Mixed Doubles Championship.
The countries that would be battling for honours in Gangwon secured qualification throug different routes.
It said while some earned qualification through points earned at world championships held in Finland, others sealed their places through regional quotas or as the National Olympic Committee with the most points outside these initial criteria.
The Winter Youth Olympics is slated to hold between January 19 and February 1, 2024.
