Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has been ordered by the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court to pay a fine of N200,000 for failing to appear in court for his re-arraignment on the excuse of having bed rest.
The court also asked counsel to Mr Fani-Kayode, F. Ajudua, to choose between revoking the bail of the second defendant and paying the fine.
The ex-minister was on Nov. 10, 2016, admitted to a N50 million bail bond with a surety in the like sum.
Fani-Kayode is accused by the country’s anti-graft agency of diverting N26million alleged to have been received from the ex-National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
He recently defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) describing President Muhammadu Buhari as a leader determined to salvage Nigerians from ongoing economic and security challenges.
