Hon. Ginger Onwusibe of the Labour Party has been declared as the member-elect for the House of Representatives in the Isialangwa North and South Federal Constituency by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ginger, a former Council Chairman, emerged victorious after defeating Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s preferred candidate, Professor Anthony Agbazuere, who also served as his immediate past Chief of Staff.
In a closely contested race, Ginger secured a total of 20,411 valid votes, while his closest rival, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Professor Agbazuere, polled 13,508 votes.
Interestingly, Ginger even won in his opponent’s stronghold, Isialangwa South L.G.A.
The news of Ginger’s victory has sparked jubilation among members of the Labour Party who are currently celebrating at the collation centre.
