The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has emerged victorious in Lagos, defeating his rival from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While Tinubu may have secured more local government areas, Obi ultimately clinched the win with a higher number of total votes.
After the results from all 20 local governments were declared, Tinubu came out on top in 11 while Obi won in nine.
The final tally saw Obi receive 582,664 votes, while Tinubu trailed behind with 541,850.
This historic win for Obi has sent shockwaves throughout the country, as Lagos has long been considered a stronghold for the APC.
Obi’s strong showing in Lagos, coupled with his nationwide popularity, has cemented his position as a formidable contender for the nation’s top job.
‘Godfather’ of Lagos

What’s more, Tinubu is known for his strategic political manoeuvres and clout, which have enabled him to play a crucial role in shaping the political careers of many politicians in Lagos and beyond.
He has been instrumental in the emergence of several political figures in Lagos, and many refer to him as the architect of modern Lagos politics.
