Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions, Edo Queens, will face the maiden winner of the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Women’s Champions League, Hasaacas Ladies from Ghana in Group B of the 2024 edition.
The draw of the 2024 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers took place in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday with Edo Queens in a tricky group with their Ghanaian rivals.
Apart from facing 2021 winners, Hasaacas Ladies, Moses Aduku’s side will also meet Omnisport Etincelle (Burkina Faso) and AS Garde Nationale (Niger Republic) in Group B.
Host, FC Inter D’Abidjan (Cote D’Ivoire) will face Ainonvi FC (Benin Republic) and AS Kozah (Togo) in Group A.
The top two teams from the groups will qualify for the semi final with the winner of the tournament qualifying for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Hasaacas Ladies FC defeated Rivers Angels (Nigeria) to win the 2021 edition.
Bayelsa Queens (Nigeria) and Ampem Darkoa (Ghana) won the 2022 and 2023 editions respectively.
The past three finals of WAFU-B Women’s Champions League has pitted Ghana against Nigerian teams with the former winning two titles over Nigeria’s one.
