Fire gutted the private residence of Kaduna based Islamic Scholar and bandit negotiator, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi on Saturday.
The incident reportedly happened at noon, even as details of the incident remain unknown and no casualties recorded as at the time of filing this report.
According to reports, the roof of the one-story building apartment was badly affected, as residents battled to put off the fire.
Part of the building was also used as school, Daily Trust reports.
Confirming the incident to Daily Trust, Gumi said: “it was Allah’s will”. “It was God’s will and the cause unknown because there was no electricity when the incident happened,” he added.
As seen by Heritage Times, the video of the fire incident was posted on the Facebook wall of the scholar as youths battle to prevent the fire from spreading to another part of the building.
Gumi had been in the news following his peace-seeking mission to many bandit hideouts in Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara states, where he has negotiated with the government severally on their behalf.
