Nigeria flagged off the administration of the Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine with volunteer doctors on Friday at the National Hospital, Abuja.
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, announcing the flag-off, said “after undergoing final assessment by NAFDAC, we have confirmation that they have concluded their final checks with positive results. Nigeria can now go ahead and use the 3.924m doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.
At the event chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force, PTF on COVID-19, Mr. Boss Mustapha, one Dr. Cyprian Ngon led the first set of health workers which also included Nurse Faith Eragbai, Dr. Nuru Joseph and Dr. Thairu Yunusa to receive the vaccine.
President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the SGF and other top government officials will get jabs of the vaccine tomorrow, March 6.
