Nigeria’s former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has explained that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) merely invited him for questioning on Tuesday.
The Nigerian media space had been awash on Tuesday evening of his purported arrest by the anti-graft agency over alleged manipulation and forgery.
Although Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed the arrest, he did not give details.
Reacting on his Twitter page, Fani-Kayode insisted that he was only invited by the commission and has since been granted bail.
“Just arrived at the George Hotel for dinner. I was never arrested by the EFCC. I was invited & I flew down to Lagos to see them. I arrived in their office at 2.00pm & left at 8.30pm.
“I was granted bail on self-recognition. They were very polite & professional. Thanks be to God,” he wrote.
