Ibrahim Lamorde, a former Chairman of Nigeria’s lead anti-corruption agency – the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has passed away in Egypt after a battle with an undisclosed illness.
The retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Lamorde who worked earlier as the director of operations of the agency died at the age of 61 and is expected to be buried on Sunday morning according to Islamic rites.

Heritage Times HT recalls that Lamorde who served as EFCC’s third Executive Chairman between 2011 and 2015 was first appointed in an acting capacity in November 2011 after his predecessor, Farida Waziri, was removed by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Lamorde was born on December 20, 1962 in Mubi, Adamawa State. He attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology in 1984.
He joined the Nigerian Police Force in 1986.
Like his predecessors, he was also sacked from office in 2015 when Muhammadu Buhari assumed office as the President of Nigeria.
