Bandits wreaking havoc at Nigeria’s North West Region have abducted a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna state.
Heritage Times (HT) gathered that the incident occurred during the early hours of Monday when the criminal elements operated along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway.
The DPO, who was recently posted to Birnin Gwari, was reportedly on his way to his duty post in the area when he was abducted.
Police in the state are yet to issue a statement on the incident.
The DPO’s abduction comes barely 24 hours when it was reported that Ansaru group has taken over authority and control of Birnin Gwari, recruiting and indoctrinating youth in the area, while laying down rules among which is the ban on political activities.
It is also coming barely four days after bandits abducted a DPO in Nasarawa State and demanded N5 million ransom.
