A highly influential daughter of Nigerian leader has declared that Lagos, the country’s commercial capital and home state of President Bola Tinubu will not be available for the 15-day anti-government protest scheduled to commence Aug. 1.
Folashade Tinubu has been very vocal in defending her father against critics since he took over office as the West African nation’s President May 29 last year.
Various groups have vowed to take to the streets to protest against growing hunger and frustration in the country, amidst high cost of living, inflation and drastic reduction in the value of local currency, Naira.
“Before you say a government has not done well, you have to allow them to spend at least three years in office,” the President’s daughter, a prominent leader of market women said while addressing group of marketers.
She insists that criticisms against her father who is little above one year in office is hasty and unfair.
She called on parents to warn their children against joining the planned anti-government protest, adding that victims of EndSARS protest, referring to the 2020 protest against police brutality are still yet to recover from the losses they incurred almost four years after.
“We should tell ourselves, our children at home and our family members that there is nothing like protest in Lagos state. It is not good. Recall the one they did before where they destroyed so many of our public assets. Do not allow your children to be used by some people who give them money to go and start fighting and destroying things.
‘’So please let us talk to ourselves. There is nothing like protest in Lagos state because the government is making us proud. They are making us proud. The state government is doing us well and for the one in the center, they just came into office. Before you say a government has not done well, you have to allow them to spend at least three years in office.”
