Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has heaped praises on the Super Eagles of Nigeria, claiming they have what it takes to spring surprises at the World Cup.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich gaffer believed that some African teams, namely Senegal, Algeria, Nigeria and Ivory Coast could hold their own at the global stage.
Guardiola said: “We see some African teams like Algeria and Senegal as serious threat then Nigeria is a very exciting team to watch when they play at their potentials. They are about some of the teams you expect to spring a surprise”.
Although, Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr had recently opined that no African teams can win the World Cup even though the continent parades great players, who ply their trade in Europe’s biggest leagues and teams.
While the wait to see which team from the continent would be first to achieve such feat continues, African teams like Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana have come very close to making it into the semi-final of a World Cup tournament in previous outings.
