The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of one Benjamin Nnanyereugo, alleged to have fled after killing his 21-year-old girlfriend, Augusta Osedion.
The suspect was arrested in Sierra Leone by the country’s police operatives, Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin announced in a chat with newsmen.
He added that efforts are ongoing to extradite the suspect back to Nigeria.
“He was arrested by the Sierra Leonean Police Force, and we are working on extraditing him to Nigeria,” the police spokesman said.
The suspect committed the crime in his home at Oral Estate, Ajah on July 13, 2023, the police command in Lagos State had earlier said in a statement.
“Following the exhaustion of all available options to bring him in, he is declared wanted,” the police spokesperson had said.
“The suspect is 26 years old, approximately 5’9 ft tall and hails from Abia State. He is dark in complexion and speaks English, Igbo and pidgin English fluently.
