Nigeria and Mauritania have now settled for use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) gadget ahead of the new football season in both African countries.
While the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced its readiness to apply VAR in the upcoming season, its Mauritania counterpart have already deployed the technology.
The Mauritania Football Association, at the end of last season, announced that VAR will be fully implemented in the coming season.
According to the update from the country, the proposed equipment arrived in the country on Thursday afternoon and is being fixed for all the match venues.
The Mauritania League will accommodate two Sudanese League giants – Al Hilal and Al Merriekh, this season, as they will be playing in the league.
The League is scheduled to commence next week.
Though, Nigeria is yet to get its equipment on ground, NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, has announced measures aimed at ensuring that referees ensure its effective usage, with barely one week to league kick-off.
