Nigeria is among 12 countries placed in Pot 1 as Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducts draw ceremony for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
CAF in a statement on Wednesday said the highest ranked nations according to the latest FIFA Rankings released June 20, 2024 will occupy Pot 1.
The other countries in Pot 1 are, hosts Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Mali, South Africa, Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo.
The concluded draw of the qualifiers will be made up of 12 Groups of 4 teams (Group A to L), where the first and runners-up in the 11 groups that do not involve tournament hosts Morocco, will gain qualification to the competition.
The draw for the biennial competition is slated for Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday.
Thereafter, rhe qualifiers will commence in September, 2024.
CAF also revealed that Cote d’Ivoire head coach Emerse Faé and Moroccan legend Marouane Chamakh will serve as draw assistants.
The AFCON 2025 finals will be played between December 21, 2025 and January 18 , 2026.
