As the race for who succeeds Femi Gbajabiamila as the 10th Speaker of Nigeria’s House Representatives heats up, murder-alleged lawmaker, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has signified his interest for the number four position in the country.
Doguwa became the 11th entrant for the position after he made his intensions known recently in a letter sent to newly elected lower chamber members in Abuja.
The lawmaker who represents Doguwa /Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State, said his passion for nation-building fueled the desire to aspire to the position.
“I am delighted to congratulate you on your election to the 10th Nigerian National Assembly.
“I want to use this opportunity to communicate my desire to contest for the office of the Speaker of the House. My passion for nation-building has fueled my desire to seek this office,” his letter read.
Heritage Times HT recalls that Doguwa was remanded in prison by a magistrates court in Kano earlier in March this year for allegations bordering on murder and electoral violence.
The Nigeria Police Force had arrested Doguwa concerning a suspected case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide during the February 25 presidential election.
While his ambition thickens, his case is still in court. He is due for trial in the coming months, where he is expected to defend all charges leveled against him.
