The final list of Nigeria’s Women Basketball team have been unveiled three days to the 2024 Olympics opener in Paris, France.
This was disclosed by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).
The team mainly known as D’Tigress include 12 players.
They are, the captain of the team Amy Okonkwo, Elizabeth Balogun, Nicole Enabosi, Promise Amukamara, Murjanatu Musa and Ifunaya Okoro.
Others are Pallas Kunayi, Blessing Ejiofor, Ezinne Kalu, Olaoluwatomi Taiwo, Lauren Ebo and Adebola Adeyeye.
More Preparation
Meanwhile, the Nigerian team arrived Lille, France, for its last preparatory game against Japan, ahead of the Paris Olympic games that begin on Friday July 26.
D’Tigress, preparing and training hard in Germany, under the tutelage of highly-regarded Coach Rena Wakama, also played two test games against Germany and Serbia, losing both matches.
On Wednesday, D’Tigress would go out for another test game, this time, against the Japan female national basketball team by 8 pm, in Lille.
Boxing Duo
Also Team Nigeria boxers made up of Cynthia Ogunsemilore and Adams Olaore have arrived in Paris, for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Olaore will compete in the men’s heavyweight (92kg) division, while Ogunsemilore will compete for honours in the women’s (60kg) category.
In Search Of Medal, 28 Years After
The duo will hope to end Nigeria’s 28-year medal drought in boxing.
Atlanta 1996 was the last time Nigeria got a medal at the Olympics via Donkan Dokiwari.
