The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Wabote has performed the groundbreaking ceremony of AS Energy Limited’s Pipe Manufacturing Plant.
The plant sited next to the NCDMB Gas Hub, Polaku, Yenagoa LGA, Bayelsa State, has an estimated investment of ₦7.04 billion ($8.8million) and is projected to produce Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) and Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) pipes.
Delivering his Keynote address at the ceremony, the E.S. noted that the Project is in line with the mission statement of NCDMB: “To promote the development and utilization of in-country capacities for the industrialization of Nigeria through the effective implementation of the Nigerian Content Act’’.
“I am therefore excited that the core purpose of why we are here today is to witness the development of an in-country facility dedicated to the production of Glass Reinforced Epoxy and Glass Reinforced Plastic Pipes.” Engr Wabote said.
The ES expressed delight that AS Energies’ pipes will be produced to meet the regulatory standards such as: ISO 9001- Quality Management System Requirements; ISO 14001 – Environmental Management System Standard; & BS 18001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management System Standard
Engr Wabote further commended the CEO of AS Energies Limited, Gbenga Olaniyan, stressing that “With this facility sited next to the NCDMB Gas Hub, you are contributing, and further cementing the growth of Polaku Community which is fast developing into an industrial area where investors should move into for their businesses to thrive.”
On his part, Gbenga Olaniyan, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of AS Energies Limited, thanked the Executive Secretary and NCDMB top management and staff for attending the groundbreaking ceremony and appealed for the Board’s support to ensure the project’s success.
