The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has cautioned the public against misleading claims circulating on social media regarding a N50,000 monthly stipend under the Commission’s Youth Internship Scheme.
The fraudulent information requests “all Nigerian youths” to submit their account details, promising payment from the NDDC.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, the NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, emphasized that the Commission has not yet released the final list of beneficiaries for the scheme.
The legitimate beneficiaries will be selected from the official database of applicants who registered between August 5 and August 31, 2024.
The NDDC urged applicants to be patient as the selection process nears completion, reaffirming its commitment to transparency. “We advise members of the public, especially our youths, to be wary of scammers and rely only on information from official NDDC channels,” Thompson-Wakama stated.
The Commission expressed concern over the activities of individuals exploiting eager youths for personal gain and stressed that all queries regarding the scheme should be directed to its official platforms, including the NDDC website and social media channels.
