The newly installed Chairman of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria (IoD) Abuja Zone, Joseph M. Tsavsar, has expressed commitment to ensure that the Institute is professionally led and managed in response to the needs of its members.
Tsavsar gave this assurance on Tuesday during his Investiture and 9th Executive Committee Meeting held in Abuja.
While also assuring that he will work to ensure that the Institute enjoys “due recognition and respect nationally and internationally, he implored “members and prospective members to exhibit unparallel sacrifice, commitment and unflinching supports at all times”.
He listed his strategic initiatives in achieving his mandate as: “To engage policy makers in the public sector to buy into the objectives of IOD especially in the promotion of good corporate governance that will help to grow and sustain businesses.
“To attract more members across the zone especially Young Directors of emerging organisations through the Young Directors Forum of the Institute.
“To maintain contact with all members of the Institute in the zone through regular programmes that will add value to their businesses”.
The Chairman added that to achieve all this, the Institute will organize programmes and events as, New year Directors, Dinner/Cocktail, Members Evening and Breakfast Seminars, to interact with members and attract new memberships.
Tsavsar who was elected a few months ago, recalled that the IoD Nigeria, Abuja Zone which is about six years in existence, has a track record of ground breaking achievements and commanding visibility, which he said is a function of the sterling leadership qualities.
He further stated that the IoD under his leadership, is also planning regular sensitization visits to individuals/ public organisations to advocate on the objectives of the IoD.
“We have observed that, the zone has enjoyed political power at the disadvantage of economic power, this shows why there are few enterprises and organisations like Dangote and the BUAs growing in a sustainable manner.
“We need to shift the paradigm by advocating for growth of more Entrepreneurs than politicians by getting policy makers like the Chairman of the occasion Distinguished Senator Suswam to support in making policies that promote sustainable growth of enterprises in the zone,” he added.
