The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) is set to collaborate with reputable operations and maintenance (O&M) companies to manage the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) and the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC).
This move aims to bolster the nation’s fuel supply and overall energy security.
The NNPC Ltd. made the announcement via its official X account, stating its intention to identify capable O&M companies to oversee the WRPC and KRPC.
The ultimate objective is to ensure consistent and sustainable operations that effectively meet the nation’s fuel and energy needs.
The tender process for selecting these companies will involve three stages: Expression of Interest (EOI), Technical Evaluation, and Commercial Evaluation.
The selection process will emphasize cost-saving measures in areas such as consumable procurement, personnel management, and the utilization of advanced systems like Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) and Warehousing Management System (WMS).
Established in 1978, the Warri Refinery in Delta State is a complex conversion refinery with a designed distillation capacity of 125,000 barrels per day.
The refinery complex also includes a petrochemical plant commissioned in 1988. The Warri refinery plays a crucial role in supplying petroleum products to the southern and southwestern parts of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna Refinery, commissioned in 1980, was designed to meet the petroleum needs of Northern Nigeria. Through subsequent expansions, the refinery’s current capacity stands at 110,000 barrels per day.
