National Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Prof. Iyorchia Ayu has slammed the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) Government, accusing it of “borrowing or printing” money to pay salaries of its workforce.
Prof. Ayu spilled this bitter pill on Saturday while declaring open the PDP’s National Convention holding to select its Presidential flag bearer for the 2023 polls.
He recalled that the recent Local Council Polls across the Federal Capital Territory in which the PDP recorded major victories, “shows that Nigerians want the PDP back.”
“Nigeria is now the poverty capital of the world. Nigeria is the third most terrorized country in the world,” he lamented.
The Chairman further hinted that as part of efforts to build the intellectual capacity of its members, the party has established the Peoples Democratic Institute in Asokoro Abuja. He said the institution would kick off operations in June.
Also speaking by the sidelines of the convention, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom mocked the ruling APC for further postponing its Presidential primaries, saying the party lacks leadership.
He also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of being compromised by the ruling party.
“The PDP is back to take Nigeria from bottom to top, and not from top to bottom,” he said.
