The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has established a special investigation panel to probe allegations of unprofessionalism, high-handedness, and extrajudicial killings levelled against police officers serving at the Zone 13 Command, Ukpo-Dunukofia of Anambra State Command.
According to a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer, Olumiyiwa Adejobi, the IGP deemed it necessary to establish the panel due to the weighty allegations circulating on social media.
The panel, which is led by the IGP Monitoring and Mentoring Unit, has already begun its work and will have two weeks to submit a report of its findings.
The Force spokesperson assured the public that the investigation’s results will guide subsequent steps to be taken on the issue.
The officers implicated in the allegations, including CSP Patrick Agbazue, officer-in-charge of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Anambra State Command, SP Nwode Nkeiruka, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo-Dunukofia, and Inspector Harrison Akama attached to the RRS, have already reported to the police force headquarters in Abuja on the IGP’s orders.
The Force is asking any member of the public with information or experiences of high-handedness, extortion, or extra-judicial killings by the officers in question to share them with the panel.

The IGP has assured the public that the police force will spare no effort in ensuring that justice is served and any officer found guilty will face the appropriate sanctions.
