Nigerian Senate on Tuesday approved request from President Bola Tinubu, seeking the appointment of 20 Special Advisers.
The request comes days after the President announced the appointment of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff and a minister in the immediate past government of Muhammadu Buhari, Sen. George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The fresh request was read on Tuesday by the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan
The President did not however attach names of the Special Advisers in the request letter.
The ninth Senate, expected to be dissolved next week gave speedy approval of the request.
President of the Senate, Lawal said it is of “utmost urgency” that the President has his team to work with shortly after the approval.
“Because there is no name for special advisers we will just approve it from here. We feel that that this is something of utmost urgency,” the senate president said.
