The Old Boys Association of Stella Maris College, Port Harcourt, Rivers State has honoured the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote, with an award of excellence in recognition of his outstanding public and humanitarian services in the oil and gas industry.
The award was presented to the NCDMB chief executive on Sunday during the school’s 2022 end of year reunion/award night held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
This award is sequel to the recognition the Executive Secretary bagged in 2018 from the Old Boys Association when he was honored as one of the most outstanding students of the 1984 class.
Receiving the latest award, Engr. Wabote appreciated the association for the honour and charged the principal, staff, students to maintain the standards which is the school is renowned for.
He encouraged other old students of the school to assist each other in different fields of endeavour.
In his address, the National President, Stella Maris College Old Boys’ Association, Arc. Opiribo West thanked the Executive Secretary for donating a brand new 60KVA soundproof power generating set and an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Centre to encourage technological advancement. He challenged other individuals and classes to make similar donations to their alma mater
The event had its theme as “The role of Education in Socio-Economic Advancement in Nigeria” and it provided an opportunity for Old Students of the College and other Secondary Schools in Rivers State to network and strategize on ways to improve the educational sector in the state and Nigeria.
