Six Nigerian Wrestlers have been named for the upcoming 2024 Olympics slated for Paris, France.
This was revealed by the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) on Tuesday morning in a statement.
The team, which comprise five female wrestlers, one male freestyle wrestler, also have three coaches.
The statement said the Wrestlers were presented during a colourful ceremony at the Dynamite Wrestling gym in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state capital.
Wrestlers unveiled include Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Blessing Oborodudu (68kg), reigning African champion Odunayo Adekuoroye (57kg), and Military world champion Hannah Reuben (76kg).
Others are reigning African champions and debutants, Esther Kolawole (62kg) and Ogunsanya Christinah (53kg), while Ashton Mutuwa completes the list in the (125kg) men’s freestyle wrestling.
The coaches are Victor Kodei, Purity Akuh, and Happiness Burutu.
Heritage Times HT reports that the athletes and officials are expected to depart Nigeria for Spain on July 3 for a pre-Olympic tournament in Madrid before settling in Germany for their last camping ahead of the games.
