President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has reacted to the Super Eagles performance yesterday, following their disastrous outing against Sierra Leone, citing it as the “worst loss” since he became the president.
Pinnick said this while addressing the players in the team’s locker room after the game that saw Nigeria surrender a four goal lead to draw the Leone Stars at home.
“For the first time, in a long while the spirit of competition is not there anymore, Pinnick said. “Since I became the president of NFF this the worst loss I have seen in my life…next few days I wonder how I’m going to sleep.
“Should I call this a wakeup call? No, I won’t because Nigeria is a big country. We don’t wake up playing Sierra Leone; we wake up playing Brazil, Argentina and Senegal, the NFF president noted.
The three-time African Champions had got on to a fine start but fell after the break.
As the Super Eagles prepare to redeem their image come November 17 when they travel to Freetown for the returning fixture, Pinnick has charged the team to win by four goals to nil.
“For us to remain a proud football nation, which we are, we have to go to Sierra Leone and beat them that four-zero. It’s not about going there to win; winning is an understatement. It is to beat them by four goals and ensure they don’t score us that’s the only thing we need to do from the blast of the whistle to the end of the game.
“We must beat them in Freetown by four goals. It is very symbolic that we win by that margin,” the NFF president added.
