Nigeria’s Super Falcons forward Desire Oparanozie has won Chinese Women’s Super League title with her club Wuhan Jianghan FC.
Heritage Times HT reports Oparanozie played an active role this season as Wuhan finished on top of the table despite losing the final game of the season.
Jiangsu Wuxi defeated Oparanozie’s Wuhan in the final game by a lone goal but the points acquired in the previous games were enough to hand them the title.
“Behold your Chinese Women’s Super League Champion What A Year! Proud,” Oparanozie wrote on her Twitter handle.
Wuhan recorded 15 wins and three losses in 18 matches to finish in first position with 45 points ahead of Jiangsu Suning in second position with 39 points.
Wuhan thus won the title for the third successive time, having achieved the feat in 2020 and 2021.
Oparanozie, with 22 goals in 35 outings with the Nigeria Super Falcons since 2010, joined Wuhan earlier this year for the 2022 season from French side Dijon.
The Chinese Women’s Super League is the top-level women’s football league in China.
It started in 1997, the name was first adopted in 2004.
