Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo, has joined Ethiopian Premier League club Wolwalo Adigrat University.
Ojo’s move follows his contract termination with Sudanese club El-Merreikh after a short spell.
He had left Enyimba, a Nigeria Premier Football League, to play for El-Merreikh a few months ago.
Speaking about why he chose the Ethiopian side, Ojo said, “I have high hopes for my time at Wolwalo.
“I had offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, but I chose Wolwalo because of its professional management.
“I am truly excited to be here; it’s an honour to wear the yellow jersey and represent Wolwalo. I am dedicated to giving my best for the club and its fans.
“It’s a pleasure to join such a distinguished club, and I have felt a warm welcome from everyone since I arrived.
“The opportunity to work hard in Ethiopia and help Wolwalo succeed is a significant motivation for me.”
Aside from El-Merreikh and Enyimba, Ojo has played for Giwa FC, Sunshine Stars, and Abia Warriors in Nigeria.
He was part of Nigeria’s men squad at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where the team secured a silver medal.
